A day without time

We constantly hear it: "I don't have enough time!" "Time is money!" "Don't waste my time."

But what is this abstract construct of time anyways? A man-made concept to give us structure and plan our life? What if you could take time away and just be?

Thats what I did yesterday. I had a day without time.

That meant hiding all the clocks in the apartment, my watch, cellphone, computer and any other devices that would usually show me what time it is. My plan was to experience one full day without knowing what time of the day it was. This also implied not using my phone and computer, checking social media or my Whatsapp notifications.

It was a super cool experience wich I would like to share with you now.  When you don't know what time it is you suddenly start paying attention to your own body. When are you ready to wake up? When do you actually get hungry and want to eat something? (without looking at your watch thinking "oh its 1.pm I should have lunch now") When are you tired and want to go to bed?

Its a funny feeling when you wake up and you don't know if its 8am, 11am or you slept in until 2pm! You just are in the moment and go with the flow.

Personally I also really enjoyed my little digital detox and realized how many times I would have taken out my phone on a normal day to snap a picture.

I had breakfast/or lunch (hahaha i really don't know) in a beautiful little place yesterday with the cutest cappuccino of all times and free wifi - no photo, no phone

I drank a bottle of champagne by the beach under palm trees with my boyfriend - no photos

We had a super fun beach workout - no photos, no Instastory

We watched a beautiful sunset together by the beach - no photo, no video

We went to this cute little Israeli place for dinner (or at least it was already dark) and I ordered the best Pita Falafel so far - no photo

No photos - just memories.

I think one day without time was an amazing experience, however I am asking myself how it would be if you could spend an entire week, or even a month without time. In a world where we are constantly ruled by the notifications of our phones I think it is really important to also find time for oneself and unplug every once in a while. For the future I think I will introduce one social media free day a week into my life :)

What about you? Would you need a day without time? What about a digital detox?
